Can we really catch what eludes us?

I started Veil Keeper wanting to draw a moth, then decided to give it a more unsettling presence. Eyes appear in its wings, a skull takes shape on its body. The more you look at it, the more you discover something you hadn't seen at first glance.

The hand comes from my series of anatomical drawings. It reaches out to catch the moth, perhaps just before it slips away. I like this suspended second: we don't know if the fingers will close, or even if they should.

The moth evokes for me what exists between two states: day and night, life and death, the visible and what we perceive behind a veil. I blended this idea with my love for tattooing and the imagery of pagan folklore. I didn't want to give it a precise meaning; I prefer to let everyone imagine what the hand is truly trying to grasp.

On a t-shirt, Veil Keeper takes on the air of a tattoo design: an image that you carry with you, the meaning of which remains a bit of a secret.
