What if our world hung by a few threads?
I imagined Whisper of the Suspended Sea with Caspar David Friedrich’s Wanderer above the Sea of Fog in mind, that sense of vertigo one feels when faced with an immense landscape whose boundaries and secrets cannot be discerned.
I blended in my taste for impossible journeys and dreamlike universes, somewhere between the explorations of Jules Verne and the cosmic mysteries of Lovecraft. The scale of this creature and the world it carries hint at an order that completely transcends us.
Suspended between the sky and the waves, the island seems as fragile as it is preserved. One does not know if the fish is guiding it, protecting it, or simply carrying it off to a destination that no one knows.
