What if a simple flame was watching over something greater than itself?
I imagined Flame Keeper while thinking about Japanese folklore and that fascinating idea that the things around us can have a presence, a spirit, sometimes even becoming a yōkai or a guardian.
From that was born this little flame guardian. I don’t know exactly what it protects: a memory, a hope, or simply the light we try to keep burning when everything turns dark.
That is what I love about this illustration. Behind a flame that seems fragile, you can imagine an entire world.
